About 80% of what children learn is processed
through their eyes. When children cannot see, they
have difficulty reading or find it hard to focus
on tasks, thus affecting school performance, as
well as their daily lives.
The Eagles Eye Mobile provides comprehensive vision
care to needy elementary and middle public school
children in Philadelphia. The program offers free
eye exams and, when needed, prescription eyeglasses
and follow-up care through St. Christopher's Hospital
for Children. Every year, more than 3,000 children
receive eye exams; almost 80% of these children
need and receive free eyeglasses. The Eagles Eye
Mobile operates in close partnership with the School
District of Philadelphia.
Is your child having difficulty
reading or seeing the blackboard? If so, he/she
may be
suffering from poor vision. Please contact your
child's school nurse.
